Types of resident visas in Dubai, UAE

There are seven most common types of visas in the United Arab Emirates, depending on the purpose of the visa


The tourist visa is one of the most sought after, intended for those who want to vacation or explore the country. This type of visa is for a period of 30 to 90 days with the possibility of extension.

A work visa is issued by employers for employment in a private or public company, usually for a period of one to two years.

The remote worker or freelancer visa is granted to those who work remotely outside the country and have a certain level of income. This visa is valid for one year and allows one to live in the UAE while enjoying all the benefits of residency such as banking, medical care, renting real estate, and educating children in local schools.

The Pension Visa is a five-year legalization option for residents who meet the requirements of the program and are over the age of 55.

The student visa is for those studying in educational institutions. It can be issued from the age of 18 and can be renewed for the entire period of study.

A resident who has obtained a visa in his or her own name is entitled to sponsor family members and domestic staff by issuing them visas, provided that certain conditions on earnings and rent are met. Sponsor visa is granted for a period of one year or more.

Investor visa is granted for two years or ten years, depending on the amount spent on buying real estate in the UAE or starting a business.
